The exhibition is open to the public from June 25th. to June 27th from 2.00 p.m. – 7.00 p.m. at the Adult Education Centre, Level 5 (Tesco end) Dundrum Town Centre.
Creativity flourishes in local communities. The community art classes throughout Rathdown are coming together to exhibit their work in one venue.Pat Moylan, Chairperson of the Arts Council, opens the exhibition to an invited audience on June 24th. The exhibition is open to the public from June 25th. to June 27th from 2.00 p.m. – 7.00 p.m. at the Adult Education Centre, Level 5 (Tesco end) Dundrum Town Centre.
The exhibition contains a colourful array of individual pieces. The vast majority of the artists have not exhibited before. Organising and hosting this event is also a first for South Dublin Adult Education Service. Eileen Uhlemann, Community Education Facilitator, was so impressed with the artwork created by the students, she felt it should be brought to a the wider public.
Pat O Connor the CEO of County Dublin VEC supports working in partnership with communities to deliver programmes of adult education. South Dublin Adult Education Service works with Individual Community and Family Resource Centres, voluntary groups and a host of agencies to deliver art in local settings. Community Education is a vital part of education services.
In advance of the event Patricia Doran, Adult Education Officer said “…we need to value the arts in education, because all communities should be given the chance to express their our own stories creatively”.
Working with our community partners ensures that we can identify and provide courses in local settings. As part of the County Dublin VEC we provide the tuition hours free of charge. The centres and agencies provide the venue and materials, for the most part. Many of the courses lead to FETAC awards. Our services value all learning.
